Hair PRP

How Does PRP Work for Hair Loss?

At Meacham Beauty, we offer PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy to help promote hair growth. While the exact mechanism is not fully understood, PRP contains at least six key growth factors, including Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), and Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF).

These growth factors help prolong the anagen phase (hair growth stage) and may increase the thickness of hair shafts. PRP also contains over 30 additional proteins that may further support hair regrowth.

Who’s a Good Candidate for PRP?

PRP is most effective for individuals experiencing thinning hair rather than complete baldness, particularly those who have had recent hair loss. While younger individuals tend to see better results, anyone with thinning hair may benefit.

Additionally, people with naturally higher platelet levels may experience more pronounced results due to the greater number of growth factors in their PRP.

Hair PRP Treatment Process

Consultation & Consent

We begin with a thorough explanation of the procedure, followed by an informed consent form to ensure you understand the risks, benefits, and alternatives.

Blood Draw & Preparation

A 22mL blood sample is taken and processed using a specialized protocol. The result is three components:

PRP Injection & Microneedling (Optional)

The PRP is injected in small amounts (as little as 0.05mL per site) across up to 120 injection sites per session. If microneedling is part of the treatment plan, it will follow the PRP injections to further stimulate growth factor release. To enhance comfort, local anesthesia or nitrous oxide gas may be administered.

Required Number of Sessions

PRP therapy requires multiple sessions for optimal results. While there is no universal treatment schedule, a common plan includes:
